Barbara M. Reed, a resident of Walden, passed away May 10,2023.

The daughter of Joseph Donovan & Elizabeth Zuckert, she was born June 20, 1934, in Bronx, NY.

Barbara was employed by Valley Central High School for almost 30 years as a custodian.

Mom lived on the same property for about 78 years and was quite content not to wander far from home. She loved country music and Polka bands, spending many weekends dancing at the jamborees, when she wasn’t at the Angola in Cornwall skating her little legs off. When Mom walked into a room, heads turned. She was a beautiful, vibrant woman- always smiling. She truly lived her life.
Her grandchildren were all her “kids”, spoiling them rotten with holidays that would put Santa to shame. Her family was her true passion. Heaven help the person who dared to say an unkind word about any one of them. She had all of our backs. We all take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life, our wonderful father and grandfather “Mr. Reed”. Fly with the Angels Mom! ‘Til we meet again, we all love you!

Barbara is survived by her daughters Linda Berean of Walden, and Debbie (Kief) Schoonmaker of Ellenville; Grandchildren John (Kim) Barone, Andrew (Melissa) Barone Sr., Tracy (Kris) Contestabile, Kenny (Tracy) Barone, Joey (Elisabeth) Schoonmaker, Jeremy Doxsey, Cheyenne (Randy) Freiermuth and Stephanie (Danny) Abbatiello and Great Grandchildren Johnny, Evie and Colton Barone, Andrew Jr. (Emily), Dylan and Bella Barone, Dave (Elizabeth) Felter, Maria Contestabile, Cierra Jonathan Barone, Raven, Takoda, Damian Freiermuth; great great grandchildren Charlotte, John McCrane Jr., Zackary, Michael and McKensie Felter

She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Donovan, twin sisters Marian and Kathleen, brothers Eugene, Joseph, Harold, John, Francis, Gerald and William, husband Tom Reed and son-in-law Rick Berean

The family wishes to thank Dr. Vladimir Andries for making Mom’s last days as comfortable as possible.
