Detz leads Panthers to walkoff win
J.J. Detz hit a bases-loaded single in the seventh inning, lifting the Wallkill Panthers to a walk-off 10-9 win over the Marlboro Iron Dukes on Wednesday in a Mid Hudson Athletic League baseball game.
Kyle DeGroat earned a no-decision, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run with six strike outs. He also had an RBI.
Ryan Rauschenbach got the win in relief with two innings of shutout ball. He also singled and drove in a run for the Panthers (6-0, 5-1 MHAL), who trailed 9-6 entering into the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Panthers opened the week on Tuesday with a 7-6 win over the Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors. Best got the win on the mound, and also doubled and drove in two runs. Ryan Rauschenbach had two hits and an RBI and earned the save.
The Panthers finished the week on Saturday with an 8-2 win over the Red Hook Raiders.
Conner Griffin got the win, scattering five hits over six innings, with five strikeouts, and allowing one run.
DeGroat doubled and scored two runs, while Mason Franklin doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in two. Spencer Freer walked three times, singled and scored two runs. Mike Daley singled and drove in a run.
Vikings top Cornwall
Caleb Swart had two hits, including a home run and drove in five runs as the Valley Central Vikings defeated the Cornwall Dragons, 10-8 on April 15 at Valley Central High School in Montgomery.
Justin Freeman had four hits, including a double and scored three runs, while Trevor Mitchetti had two hits, scored two runs and drove in a run. Colin Quinn had a hit, a run scored and two RBIs.
The Vikings finished the week the next day with a 4-3 loss to the Goshen Gladiators on the road.
