Wallkill’s Caitlyn Murphy finished sixth at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B championship race on Saturday at Queensbury High School.

She finished with a time of 18:16.8, 17.4 seconds ahead of Cornwall’s Sophia Semo, who beat her at the Section 9 championships on Nov. 6 at Bear Mountain State Park.

Bayport-Blue Point’s Sophia McInnes won the individual race with a time of 17:45.5, and Section 1’s Tappan Zee won the overall team championship with 65 points. Section 9 finished third overall with 357 points and Section 1 took first place with 208 points.

Wallkill’s Nathaniel Diemoz was 23rd in the boys’ race with a time of 16:18.4 seconds and Mario Verruto was 62nd in 17:08.9.

Pittsford Sutherland’s William Tempest won the individual race in 15:21.4 and Section 8’s Manhasset won the team title with 44 points. Section 9 finished fifth with 441 points and Section 8 was first with 233 points.
