Cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

Posted

I am totally and absolutely outraged by members of a particular political party who propose cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid payments rather than raise the debt limit.

For the last 40 years this party, when in control of the presidency and congress, has severely cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations.  Thus the proposed cuts are made to ensure the increasing wealth of the rich and corporations at the expense of elderly, poor, and sick human beings.

Just a word about how Social Security and Medicare are funded.  Money is contributed from salary and wages of individuals and from the employer.  These moneys - by law - are used to buy federal bonds.  The moneys are thus used for ongoing federal expenses.  When the time comes for expending those moneys to help the elderly, poor, and sick the government has to borrow elsewhere to fulfill its obligations. So to keep from borrowing - incoming taxes won’t cover the obligations because taxes on the wealthy and corporations were cut so severely - the proposal is to ignore the promised obligations to assist the elderly, poor, and sick so that the wealthy and corporations can keep ever more of their income.

There is something deeply wrong, immoral, and unethical here.  For shame!
