Montgomery Volunteer Firefighters responded, Saturday, to a structure fire on Hill Avenue. At 3:12 pm, Cars 1 & 2 arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the 1/2 corner of the residence. First responders immediately began forcing entry and initiated a primary search, while mutual aid companies started to arrive on scene.

Thanks to the quick response of the firefighters, the main body of the fire was quickly knocked down. Companies then identified any remaining hot spots and worked to extinguish them.

The Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend their gratitude to all the mutual aid companies who responded to the incident, including Maybrook, Walden, Pine Bush, Wallkill, and Coldenham Fire Departments.

Although the homeowner was affected by the fire, there were no injuries reported.

Montgomery units were back in service at 5:47 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
