Haunted Hamlet events in Wallkill

As you cross off pumpkin patches, apple orchards and leaf peeping from your fall bucket list, be sure to take part in fall events happening in the Hamlet of Wallkill. Whether on a leisurely stroll or driving around the hamlet, look for the Halloween inspired artwork created by more than twenty budding artists for the Halloween Art Along the Sidewalk Contest. For the third year in a row, Vision of Wallkill has awarded Wallkill students for their creative artwork.

And while you are driving through the hamlet or when you are trick or treating with your family, take time to admire the homes and businesses that were decorated with Halloween lights and fixtures to get into the “SPIRIT” for the Haunted Hamlet of Wallkill. You can view some of these embellished properties on VOW’s Facebook page.

Vision of Wallkill will continue the Halloween festivities by joining the Trunk or Treat festivities coordinated by and at the Wallkill Reformed Church on Sunday October 30 from 5 to 7 pm. Continue with the Halloween “SPIRIT” and put your costume on and come by for treats from many trunks.

To end the Halloween season, all Shawangunk residents are invited to bring their pumpkins and jack o’lanterns to the inaugural Pumpkin Smash. Or just come to watch on Sunday, November 6, 2:00-3:00 pm at the Town of Shawangunk Transfer Station on 267 River Road. In collaboration with the Town Environmental Management Committee, tour the transfer station, learn more about recycling, composting and how you can help keep Wallkill clean. Hit the bullseye with your pumpkin or jack o’lantern and win a Stewarts Gift Card for a free ice cream cone.

With the holidays not too far behind, save the date for Wallkill’s 1st Holidays in the Hamlet event on Saturday, December 3 and the Sparkle & Shine Contest ending on December 10. Details on these and other upcoming events can be found on Vision of Wallkill’s website or Facebook page.

We welcome your helping hand at our next event or our monthly meeting, usually the second Thursday of the month in the Community Room at the Shawangunk Town Hall. Our next meeting will be Thursday November 10. Call/text 845- 527-6230 for any questions.
