John “Jack” Brendan McCabe son of Frank McCabe & Bridget Hanratty passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 84. Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary McCabe of Montgomery, NY; his sons, Rory McCabe of Montgomery and Colin McCabe of Seattle; daughter-in-law, Jaclyn McCabe; and his beloved granddaughter, Molly. Moira, and Tom. As well as a large Family of cousins In the US, Ireland and England.
Jack spent his formative years in St. Albans and Douglaston Queens. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, he began a long and successful career at the New York Stock Exchange. Jack met his “better half,” Mary, and they settled in Montgomery, NY, where he became an active member of the community. Upon retirement he then joined his wife as a Realtor with Terra Acres Realty.
Jack’s lifelong love of baseball—particularly the Brooklyn Dodgers—led him to become a dedicated Little League baseball coach for many years and the president of the Bayside Little League in Queens. Fondly remembered by his sons for coaching fresh off the train in his work suit. Also, an avid golfer who found great joy on the links. Jack brought passion to every role he undertook. Known for his quick wit, intelligence, and generous heart, he was a hard-working man who could always be counted on by friends and family alike. Jack was also a dedicated member of "The Montgomery Breakfast Club." He leaves behind many friends & family and will be dearly missed.
