Though tempered by a pandemic in recent years, General Montgomery Day is back in full force, with an estimated 15-20,000 people expected in the village on Saturday, September 10.

The 32nd annual celebration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast at Saint Mary’s Hall. It ends with the fireworks that get underway at 8:30 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park.

Among the day’s activities include the GMD 8K run/walk that begins at 7:45 a.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park. To register for the race, contact Amy Frisbee at 914-213-4626 or Erin Sherry at 845-649-5419. Last-minute registrants are welcome between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.

The downtown business district will be filled with vendors all day, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vendors include crafts, antiques, business, civic and food vendors.
The annual parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. This year’s Grand Marshal is Marc Devitt, CEO of Montgomery Hospitality and Montgomery Builders, Inc.

Other events include a Lemonade and Bake Sale, 12 - 4 p.m. on the lawn of the First Presbyterian Church; live music (1 - 9 p.m.) on two stages, the bandstand and Clinton Street; and a book signing by Ralph Friedman (12 - 5 p.m.), NYPD’s most decorated detective. The Village Museum and the O.C. Firefighters Museum will both be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m.

Veteran’s Memorial Park will host amusement rides for children all day, and the lawn of village hall will host entertainment for children, including Macaroni the Clown, between 1 and 5 p.m.
