Panagiotis “Pete” Tsigrelis, owner of Stewart Airport Diner and a 35 year area resident, died Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was 75.
Pete was born in Timfristos, Greece on July 3, 1943 to the late Basilios and Athena Tsigrelis. He married Ourania Tsigrelis in Kalesmeno, Greece in 1971, and emigrated to the United States that same year.
Pete was hard working, determined, and passionate about everything he did. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and had a love of the outdoors. Pete had a great sense of humor and a quick wit and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife of 47 years, Ourania, he is survived by his children, Basil Tsigrelis of Montgomery, Constantine Tsigrelis of Richfield, OH and Thomas Tsigrelis of Austin TX; siblings, Nikolaos Tsigrelis and Maria Fikas, both of Timfristos, Greece; grandchildren Katherine Louise Tsigrelis and Thalia Ourania Tsigrelis, both of Richfield, OH; and nieces and nephews, Basilios Tsigrelis, Apostolis Tsigrelis, Takis Fikas, Basilios Fikas, and Dina Kyriopoulou.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, January 23 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a Trisagion service at 7:00 pm. A Funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, January 24 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church where Pete was a parishioner. Burial will follow in Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery.
