The Wallkill wrestling team won all three of its pool matches to win its pool, but lost to the Cornwall Dragons, 43-30, in the final round to finish third at the Wallkill Duals Tournament on Saturday.

The Panthers won Pool A with victories over Chester (80-18), Roy C. Ketcham (43-25) and Middletown (34-32), while the Dragons ran Pool B with wins over Brewster, Warwick and Mamaroneck.

In the final match, the Dragons led the Panthers, 13-12 before running off 24 straight points on three pins and a forfeit to take a commanding lead.

Wallkill’s Viktor Banda (132), Jai Barnett (160) and Rocco Futia had pinfall victories for the Panthers.

Marco Futia (102), Rocco Futia (118) and Jai Barnett (160) had three wins and a forfeit for the Panthers. George Thomas (145) and Marco Martini (152) had three wins for the Panthers.

The final match was the second time the Panthers had lost Cornwall last week, as they fell to the Dragons, 38-26, last Wednesday.
