It was a successful return to the area for the Wallkill baseball team.

The Panthers opened their week on April 10, defeating the Beacon Bulldogs, 11-1, in five innings in a game that was called by the 10-run rule.

Chase Hermance got the win on the mound, blowing his way through the Beacon lineup, allowing only one hit over three innings. He recorded eight of his outs via the strikeout. He also was a force offensively, getting two hits, including a double, driving in two runs and scoring two runs as well.

Sean Asendorf added two hits and an RBI, and Kyle DeGroat had three hits, including a double, drove in a run, and scored three runs.

Jack Antalek had two hits, hit a triple on a ball that Wallkill right fielder Jacob Maraday thought was foul. He later came in to score on a dropped pop-up.

The Panthers got on the board early when Hermance reached on an error with nobody out in the first inning, driving in Spencer Freer. Two more runs came when Sean Asendorf reached on an error.

Niko Mandich walked to lead off the second inning and then came around to score on DeGroat’s single.

After three innings, the Bulldogs went to Anthony Borromeo, who offered little relief, giving up a leadoff single to Mandich. Hermance doubled him home, while Asendorf drove in a run with a bases loaded walk. Mason Franklin also singled home a run. Brandon Vesely walked and scored on a wild pitch. Chris Wager also delivered an RBI single in the inning.

The Panthers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to mercy the Bulldogs.

The Panthers opened their Mid Hudson Athletic League Division I schedule on Wednesday with a 6-3 win over the FDR Presidents in Hyde Park.

DeGroat went five innings, allowing one earned run, one hit and struck out nine batters. Asendorf tripled and drove in a run, while Vesely added a double and an RBI.
Braydon VanDeWater had two hits for the Presidents.

Hermance returned to the mound, throwing a complete-game shutout, limiting the Saugerties Sawyers to one hit while striking out 13 batters in a 7-0 victory at Cantine Field.

The Panthers picked up two runs in the third inning on a base hit by Vesely and broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning.
