Pastor Dorsey is reassigned to Brooklyn church

Gail Ambrosetti , Lay Leader of Walden United Methodist Church, sends word that on July 11 the congregation of the Walden United Church celebrated their beloved Pastor Scharlise Dorsey.
Pastor Dorsey who had been assigned to their church in 2018 has now been reassigned to Neuman Memorial Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. Gail relates that “during this time Pastor Dorsey was a teacher, mentor, administrator, leader and spiritual guide for our congregation. She was instrumental in helping us to continue with the building of our Church.” Gail further relates “we are sad to see her go, but we wish her every success in her new chapter at Neuman Memorial Church. I am sure that they will love having her as she leads them forward in ministry.”
“We love you Pastor Dorsey and you will always be in our prayers and hearts.”
The Walden United Methodist Church is building a new church at 1206 Route 52, Walden. You are invited to be part of their legacy and history by purchasing a 4 x 8 brick to be placed at the Church. The cost for three lines is $50. Contact Gail Ambrosetti at 845-527-6928 for information.

Tonight’s event at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 22 will feature the acoustical talents of Brian Stabner, Dan Walker and Kevin Cronin. “Music in the Grove” offers a free Summer Concert every Wednesday through August 26 at Wooster Grove Memorial Park, 89 East Main Street.
The July 29th concert will feature the Mike Antonelli Jazz Quartet. Bring your friends, your lawn chairs and stop by for a safe, socially distant concert. Also, call the Town of Montgomery Dial-A- Bus to schedule a free pick up at 845-457-2622.

Mark your calendars for the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden. This great organization will hold an indoor yard sale on Saturday, August 1, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. You will find many special items displayed on their bountiful tables. All proceeds benefit the care of the animals at the shelter. For information call 778-5115. All patrons must wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:
It is week #4 for the Summer Reading Program. Packets and activities are ready to be picked up (if you have not already done so). “Imagine Your Story” contests are still going on at the library. If you registered for the Summer Reading Programs, there is time to get your form in. We have prizes for everyone. Haven’t registered but still want to participate? Give us a call!
Story Time with Jada continues every Tuesday at noon. Find her on our Facebook page and see if you can guess the location of where she is reading.
Have you seen our Story Walk around the Municipal Building created by Miss Beth? Take a “walk” through the featured story of “Little Roja Riding Hood”. Pictures are numbered to easily follow the story. You have one week left to enjoy our very first Story Walk!
The Teen Summer Reading Program presents “Fantasy Book Cover Contest”. Create a fantasy-themed book cover using any art medium (drawing, painting, photography, digital art, etc.) and submit to Abby at the library. For questions you can e-mail her at awilliams@rcls.org. Submissions will be accepted through August 17. Prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Good luck and have fun!
The Take Home Imagine Button Craft will be ready for pick up Thursday, July 23. Pick up a kit and make a sign with buttons, sequins and glitter to keep you inspired through all your days. A template and all of the supplies you need will be ready for you.
