The Pine Bush Minors baseball team advanced to Saturday’s District 19 championship with a victory over Monroe-Woodbury on Friday.

Pine Bush entered Saturday’s play needing to beat Newburgh-New Windsor twice to win the District 19 championship, but the Newburgh team prevailed 10-4 to claim the District title.

Pine Bush won Bracket B with victories over Washingtonville and Goshen.

Both Pine Bush and Wallkill Area advanced to the final games of the elimination brackets in their respective divisions of the Majors tournament.

Pine Bush advanced to Friday’s second meeting with Goshen with wins over Greenwood Lake and Minisink Valley. Goshen sent Wallkill Area to the elimination games with a 5-2 victory.

Meanwhile in Bracket B, Wallkill Area fought back from losing its first game of the tournament, making it to the final game of the elimination side of the bracket, where they met Warwick on Friday. Wallkill Area posted victories over Otisville and Montgomery, which also picked up two wins (Town of Wallkill, Port Jervis-Eldred) before being eliminated. Wallkill was eliminated Friday, in a 5-4 loss to Warwick

All Juniors teams have been eliminated from the District 19 tournament after Wallkill Area lost to Chester, making them the second area team Chester has eliminated. They had previously taken Pine Bush out of the tournament. Wallkill Area had previously beaten Chester, which beat Pine Bush twice.

Pine Bush posted a win over Greenwood Lake. Wallkill Area also lost to Cornwall.

In the Greater Hudson Valley baseball League, Wallkill was beaten by the Lumberjacks White team and defeated the Mid Hudson Tigers Grey in the 10U division.

Wallkill’s 16U team beat the Putnam Valley Tigers, 7-4.
