Pine Bush swimmer extend win streak to 49

The Pine Bush girls’ swimming is one win closer to 50 straight dual meet victories after Thursday afternoon’s 108-70 win over New Paltz at Pine Bush High School.

They were scheduled to go for their 50th straight win on Tuesday when they were set to visit the Middletown Middies.

Against Pine Bush, Mackenzie Gula and Katie Webster won two races each. Gula got Pine Bush’s first win of the day when she outraced New Paltz’ Brooke Vos in the 200-yard medley relay. She also picked up a win after the diving break, beating Vos by 3 seconds in the 100-yard butterfly.

Katie Webster won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.85, with teammate Sadie DeGeorge coming in second. Webster also won the 100-yard freestyle, with DeGeorge again coming in second.

Gula, Webster and DeGeorge also were on both winning relays. They teamed with Ashley Martin to win the 200-yard medley relay. They also teamed with Alexandra Vargas to win the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Martin won the 500-yard freestyle, and Paige Gandolfini won the diving event.

New Paltz’ Maya Pizzarello won the 200-yard freestyle, and JoJo Laurie won the 100-yard backstroke. Alaura Sheeley won the 100-yard freestyle.

Becca Lucchesi, Pizzarello, Katie Suchowiecki and Vos won the 400-yard freestyle relay.
