The Hudson Valley Red Storm softball team reached the Greater Hudson Valley Softball League 12U Division 4 championship game when they defeated the White Plains Lady Highlanders on Saturday at Wallkill Area Little League.
The second-seeded Storm were scheduled to play for the GHVSL championship on Monday against the No. 9 Shrub Oak Stingers on Monday at Wallkill Area Little League.
The Storm built a 4-0 lead after the first two innings to beat the No. 3 Lady Highlanders 9-3 in a game that ended after five innings.
Karabelas scored a run and drove in two, while Brielle Faia had two hits and an RBI. Olivia Vlaovich hit a home run and drove in two runs. Peyton Bender had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Bella Medina doubled and drove in three runs. She also scored one.
The Storm opened the tournament with an 8-3 win over the Somers Red Storm on July 30 at Wallkill Area Little League.
The Storm broke a 3-3 tie with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the win.
Alivia Karabelas had one hit, a run scored, and an RBI and Madison Bleakley drove in a run. Brielle Faia and Holmes each drove in a run. Mackenzie Ceeley had a run scored and an RBI. Olivia Vlaovich scored two runs.
