Robert (Bob) T. Mance Sr., lifelong resident of Pine Bush, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday January 10th 2023. He was 76.
The son of the late Howard and Lovinia Mance, he was born on December 23, 1946 in Pine Bush, NY. Bob worked at IBM in Poughkeepsie for 47 years but was also well known for haying local farms for many decades.
As a lifelong member of the Walker Valley Sportsman's Association, who spent many years on the Board of Directors, he was integral in reintroducing turkeys to the area with the help of the DEC in 1980. He was an enthusiastic hunter, trapper, outdoors man, and storyteller. He also loved writing poetry. Bob was happiest when teaching others about the ways and beauty of nature and will be greatly missed by many.
An avid lover of his family and country, he is survived by his wife Suzanne, sons, Robert Jr. and Daniel, grandchildren Olivia and Samantha, siblings Lester (wife Deb) of Walker Valley, Grace (husband Jerry) of Pine Bush, Constance of New Paltz, as well as his many nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces. He is predeceased by siblings Howard and Gloria.
