During a rally, Republican VP candidate JD Vance asked “Kamala, what have you done except collect a government check?”
Surely, Vance, being a Senator himself, knows VP Harris has broken seven ties in the Senate during his short tenure there. It’s disappointing that Vance, the Republican VP nominee, apparently hasn’t researched the person with whom - until this past Sunday – he was going to debate.
Here’s a primer to help him out:
The child of immigrants from two different countries, VP Harris was born in Oakland, CA. She’s served the public as a prosecutor for three decades. First as a deputy district attorney in Oakland, then as the district attorney for San Francisco. In 2011, she was elected Attorney General of California. As AG, she prevailed against big banks who scammed homeowners and she helped create the California Homeowner Bill of Rights, protecting homeowners from flawed mortgage foreclosure practices. Under her leadership, in 2015, the California Department of Justice became the first state agency to approve a body camera program. She fought to lower greenhouse gas emissions and held oil companies that violated state laws accountable, reaching several settlements totaling tens of millions of dollars. VP Harris also successfully prosecuted for-profit colleges for fraud and misrepresentation.
As a Senator for California, Harris served on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Select Committee on Intelligence. As Vice President she elevated concerns surrounding maternal mortality, an issue she spotlighted while in the Senate, introducing the Maternal Care Act. In case you were unaware, the United States has the highest rate of maternal deaths of any high-income nation. Additionally, VP Harris continues to push for replacing and eliminating lead pipes to make our drinking water safer, and expanding broadband access across rural America.
Mr. Vance, to answer your question, Vice President Harris has been earning her pay check by helping the American people.
