PB, VC teams eliminated in Section 9 tennis Pine Bush’s Megan Maragliano was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Section 9 girls’ tennis championships on Oct. 19 at Match Point Tennis Center in Goshen.

Maragliano lost her quarterfinal match, 0-6, 0-6 to Monroe-Woodbury’s Maeve Cassidy. She won her first-round match, 6-1, 6-2 over Highland’s Lena Tran.

Valley Central’s doubles team of Talia Wutz and Taylor Froehlich were eliminated in the first round by Marlboro’s Sydney Sladicka and Ava Del Salto, 0-6, 2-6.

Wallkill girls bounced in quarterfinals The Wallkill girls’ soccer team saw its season end on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to the Saugerties Sawyers on Saturday in the Section 9 Class A quarterfinals.

Natalie Tucker, Makenzie Below and Ashlyn DeRonda all scored a goal each for Saugerties.

Madelyn Jachimiak made 16 saves for Wallkill.

The Panthers forced Saugerties goalkeeper Gabby DeSantis to make 16 saves but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Saugerties moves on to play top-seeded Washingtonville in the semifinals.
