The Town of Montgomery IDA Board announced the unanimously approved hiring of Felicia R. Kalan as the new IDA Executive Director effective August 1 on a part-time basis.

“I believe Felicia Kalan will be a huge asset to the Town of Montgomery with her background and expertise in workforce development, state government and business growth, as well as being a young mom and keeping the best interests of families and local businesses in mind,” said IDA Chairman Jeffrey Crist.

Kalan resides in the Hudson Valley along with her husband and two school-aged children, and her background includes working in local and state government, marketing and serving as the former Vice President of COhatch, a co-working and business incubator space headquartered in the Midwest.

“I’m honored to be in this new role and have a tremendous duty to work together with the Montgomery IDA Board, local leaders and residents to preserve and highlight the historical and natural landscape of the Town of Montgomery, while also securing the Towns future by working on balanced economic development projects with partners that would be good neighbors”, said Kalan.

“My goal is to prioritize projects that provide new high-paying jobs and workforce development opportunities for local residents as well as projects that will benefit existing small businesses by bringing more tourism. I want to build upon the amazing successes of the Town and work with local leaders to continue improving the quality of life for youth and families by bringing family-friendly recreational activities, public spaces and infrastructure updates for future generations to enjoy”

“Felicia is a talented and passionate leader with a background in economic development,” said Town of Montgomery Supervisor Brian Maher. “I know that Felicia will continue to grow the partnership that has been established these last few years between the IDA, the Town and our Villages to ensure that we work together on identifying and attracting the right type of development. I am especially excited to see that she has experience and passion in working to provide workforce development opportunities for both adults and our youth.”

The next Montgomery IDA meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 16 at 1p.m. at the Montgomery Town Court, 110 Bracken Road in Montgomery, and Kalan will be present, and welcomes local residents and leaders to attend. Kalan can be contacted by email at executivedirector@montgomeryida.com.
