Two incumbents running for Pine Bush school board

Two candidates are running for two positions on the Pine Bush school board.

The candidates are incumbents Kristi Kheiralla and Cara Robertson.

Kheiralla has served on the board for two three-year terms. She said she ran six years ago because she was concerned about communication with the public. She said while communication has improved, it can always be better. She advocated for a Facebook page and is pleased the district now has one.

She said FB helps the district communicate information on emergencies, issues and events and helps to develop trust.

She said her main focus is school safety.

“I will pursue any avenue that makes our kids safe and comfortable,” Kheiralla said.

Robertson has served on the board for three three-year terms.

She’s excited to be working with Superintendent Brian Dunn and Assistant Superintendent for Business Joseph Lenz, who both came to the district last summer.
One of her concerns is improving student culture.

“Students need to be more respectful of each other and staff,” Robertson said. “And that begins at home; parents should parent.”

The school board election will take place along with the budget vote from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, in the following locations: Election District No. 1 – Walker Valley Fire House; Election District No. 2 - Pine Bush Fire House (Station 1); Election District No. 3 – Circleville Evangelical Presbyterian Church; and Election District No. 4 – Town of Mamakating Park in Bloomingburg.
