Two area athletes – Valley Central’s Mackenzie Delmonico and Pine Bush’s Deirdre Meberg – were awarded all-state honors by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches of Girls Sports.

Delmonico, who led the Vikings to a 12-1-1 record and a berth in the Section 9 Class AA championship game, was named a third-team Class AA all-star. The Vikings were defeated by the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders. The Vikings also finished with a 6-1-0 record in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association.

Meberg was named a fifth-team Class AA all-star after leading the Bushmen to a 12-4-1 overall record and a 4-3-1 record in the OCIAA. The season was a bit of a turning point for the Bushmen, who had a young roster, but plenty of experience.

Delmonico is a senior, who in November signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer career at Division I Manhattan College.

Meberg is a junior and is one of 10 seniors expected back in 2023.
