The Valley Central boys’ lacrosse team finished its first week of play with a convincing 19-0 win over the Middletown Middie Bears on Friday afternoon at Faller Field.
Six Vikings scored multiple goals with Randy Rosario leading the way with five goals. Dan McClure added three goals, while Bryce DeRonda, Jack Sherry, Gavin Starr and Aidan Laughman scored two goals each. Carter Laughman, Van Remenar and Connor Stafford each scored a goal for the Vikings (1-1).
Starr had two assists and Maddox Schaper added one of his own.
The Vikings prevented the Middies from mounting any sustained offensive attack, only requiring goalkeepers Cameron Prutzman and Alex Oakes to only need to make one save each.
David Hoagland made nine saves for Middletown (0-1).
The Vikings opened the season three days earlier, taking the Kingston Tigers to overtime in a 10-9 loss.
Tyler Longo led the Tigers with five goals and Owen Niles scored three.
Rosario led the Vikings with four goals, while DeRonda and Dan McClure scored two goals each. Dani Latimer had one goal. Prutzman made 10 saves for the Vikings and Oakes made two.
Kingston’s Griffin Klan made 10 saves.
The Vikings were scheduled to travel south to North Rockland on Sunday morning for a non-league game.
