Visit the Haunted Hamlet of Wallkill

Vision of Wallkill invites all residents and businesses to continue the celebrations of the fall season and asks for your help to create a Haunted Hamlet for Halloween. Get into the “SPIRIT” and decorate your business, home and yard to express your vision of Halloween. Make it bright and fun, or dark and scary. Then post a picture of your decorations to Vision of Wallkill’s Facebook page. You decide if you want to include your address. Photos are due by October 27.

As you walk or drive through the hamlet, look for the artwork created for the 3rd Halloween Art Along the Sidewalk Contest. Winners will be selected and artwork will be displayed around the hamlet starting on Saturday, October 15.

To end the Halloween season, all Shawangunk residents are invited to bring their pumpkins and jack o’lanterns to the inaugural Pumpkin Smash, or just come to watch, on November 6, 2 -3 pm at the Town of Shawangunk Transfer Station on 267 River Road. In collaboration with the Town Environmental Management Committee, tour the transfer station, learn more about recycling, composting and how you can help keep Wallkill clean. Hit the bullseye with your pumpkin or jack o’lantern and win a Stewarts Gift Card for a free ice cream cone.

If you would like to be part of this exciting organization, join us on Thursday, October 13 at 6:30 pm as we continue our discussions about upcoming events for our community. If you can’t make monthly meetings, we welcome your helping hand at our next event. We meet in the Community Room at the Shawangunk Town Hall, 14 Central Avenue, Wallkill. Visit Vision of Wallkill’s website or Facebook page to learn more about its mission. Call/text 845- 527-6230 for any questions.
