Walden 6K race to benefit Saint Baldrick’s

Posted

A race to benefit the ongoing battle with juvenile cancer is being planned for September 17 in Walden.

Kristi Hall of the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation appeared before the Walden Village Board last week to present the plan.

The proposed course follows the footprint of one that has been used in Walden previously. It would start and end at Walden’s Olly Park and take runners out along Lake Osiris Road. Organizers would work with both the Walden and Town of Montgomery police to secure the course and coordinate traffic control.

Walden, for a number of years held an annual race in September, first an 8K and later a 5K race, but Hall said there was special significance in that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The Village Board gave a resounding approval to the idea.
