Walden receives grant for community center

Senator James Skoufis presented the Village of Walden with a $370,000 grant to support construction of the village’s new community center. The center, to be located in Olley Park on Sherman Avenue, will support enhanced community programming and offer meeting and office space. The village has already broken ground on the Anita Vandermark Community Center and expects the center will be ready for the public by April 2022. Local contractor LP Builders of Walden is heading construction.

“One of the most important parts of my job is being able to bring taxpayer dollars right back home to support important projects like this one,” said Skoufis. “Walden’s new community center, a first for the village, will improve community connectivity and give local residents a safe space for all-ages activities and gatherings. I look forward to seeing the end result!”

“This team is working hard for our Village of Walden community,” said Village of Walden Mayor John Ramos. “We thank Senator Skoufis for sharing our vision!”

The grant will be administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.
