The Mid Hudson Athletic League golf season is about to start, and the Wallkill Panthers will head into the season with little inexperience.
Their only real match experience comes from eighth-grader Brayden Callahan.
Last year’s Wallkill team finished with a 4-6 record, and they’ve lost Trevor Strano, Michael Fanning and Will Hernandez to graduation.
Coming in behind Callahan are seniors Luke Adach and Ryan Mayer and junior Alex Marshall.
The Panthers were scheduled to open their season on their home course – Turtle Creek Golf Course – on Tuesday against the Rondout Valley Ganders.
“We will look to become more comfortable each week and build on positives that we take away from each match,” second-year coach Jason Diehl said. “It’s a great group of young student athletes and I’m very excited to see how much they grow from now until the end of the season.”
