Wallkill’s Julian Aviles won the 285-pound championship at the Mid Hudson Tournament on Thursday at Arlington High School.
Aviles defeated Guilderland’s Billy Pokeda with a pinfall victory in 4:24 to claim the championship.
Valley Central’s E.J. Vass finished second at 101 pounds when Newburgh’s William Soto defeated him, 12-4. Wallkill’s Marco Futia finished second after losing the 108-pound championship match to Longwood’s Anthony LaGala Ryan. Viktor Banda finished second at 131 pounds after injury defaulting to Newburgh’s Matthew Mercado.
Wallkill’s Anthony Annacone was third at 170 pounds after he defeated FDR’s Tray Bilyou, 8-5. Devin Strother finished fourth at 125 pounds after losing the third-place match to Xavier’s Seamus Hallinan by pinfall in 4:37.
Valley Central’s Ryan Calfe placed sixth after losing the fifth-place match by pinfall in 4:48 to Arlington’s Caleb Plunkett.
The Panthers finished fifth with 147.5 pounds and the Vikings were 16th with 51 points. Xavier won the team title with 263.5 points.
