William “Jay” J. McIntyre Jr. of Walden  passed away peacefully at home Monday, May 9, 2022. He was 83. 

The son of the late William J. McIntyre Sr. and Dorothea Leifheit McIntyre he was born July 15, 1938 in Newburgh, NY.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Peggy Burbank McIntyre, at home, daughters Susan Hacker and husband Douglas R. Hacker of Johnson City, NY and 

Beth Toth & husband Mike Toth of Wallkill, grandchildren Alyssa Toth, Jake Toth, and Nathaniel D. Hacker.

After graduating from NFA in 1956, Jay served in the US Army Reserve for 6 years while working with his father in their real estate business. He then became a certified real estate appraiser serving as past president of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers.

Jay retired as a NYS Assessor having positions in several surrounding counties.

After retirement, Jay and Peggy enjoyed several years of motor-homing visiting many areas in the eastern part of the country.  

A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Church, 42 Walnut St., Walden.

Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Gardiner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jay’s honor to Most Precious Blood Church or a veteran’s organization of your choice.
