Cabaret concert benefits Unitarian Congregation

New York City cabaret artist, Debra Vogel, and her long-time accompanist and musical director, Darryl Curry are bringing a program of their favorite songs to a benefit concert for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Rock Tavern (9 Vance Rd, Rock Tavern) on Sunday, January 20, at 4 p.m. In Live a Little she’s very happy to bring her unique warmth and humor to the Hudson Valley.

Performing songs by such diverse artists as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Frank Loesser, Irving Berlin, Kander & Ebb, and Tom Waits, Ms. Vogel wraps her strong, versatile voice around both comic and heartfelt lyrics, providing a musical journey traversing the roller coaster of life, love and the pursuit of happiness.

A seasoned performer in the New York City area, Ms. Vogel was half of the popular musical duo, “O’Connor & Vogel” (with Brian Tom O’Connor). Hailed as one of the “masters at her craft,” whose shows routinely sell out, she offers a penetrating look at the transitory nature of life. A talented character actress, she engages audiences with her honesty, wit, and spark.

Joining Ms. Vogel is musical director Darryl Curry, providing original arrangements and accompaniment and theater director Elfin Vogel, who endows the program with a clear eye to the emotional core of each song.

Suggested donation is $20. For more information, call: 851-6024.
