Celebrate Purple Heart Appreciation Day with honorees

To celebrate Purple Heart Appreciation Day, the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor will be hosting a special group of Purple Heart recipients from the Leatherstocking Honor Flight Veterans Initiative, on Saturday, August 5 at 1:30 p.m.

They are spending the day in the Hudson Valley honoring Purple Heart history, visiting Washington’s Headquarters and the Hall of Honor. We invite the public to come and show your support for our Purple Heart veterans. The program will include a presentation on the observance of this day, followed by a tour of the museum. Admission is free. Please call (845) 561-1765 for reservations.

The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located at 374 Temple Hill Road (Route 300) New Windsor.

The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is a New York State Museum under the jurisdiction of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. The Palisades Interstate Park Commission administers 29 parks, parkways and historic sites for the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in New York, as well as the Palisades Interstate Park and parkway in New Jersey. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located at 374 Temple Hill Road (Route 300) in the town of New Windsor, three miles south of I-84 exit 36B and I-87 exit 17. Parking, gift shop and picnic grounds are located on site. Gallery exhibits are open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and from 1 - 5 p.m. on Sunday.
