National Night Out (NNO) returns to the Newburgh/New Windsor area on Tuesday, August 1. The City of Newburgh, Town of Newburgh and Town of New Windsor will each be hosting their own respective events for the community. This national event highlights the work of law enforcement agencies and helps establish the relationship between communities and their own police departments and officers. This will be the celebration’s 40th year.

The NNO event is an annual community event celebrated across the United States that brings law enforcement and community members together in a positive and peaceful atmosphere. This national event allows the community to see their neighbors who put on the uniform who serve and protect them in a more positive light and to really get to know them.

Town of Newburgh
The Town of Newburgh Police Department and Town Recreation Department will be welcoming residents of the town and surrounding area to Chadwick Lake Park on Tuesday, August 1 to celebrate the return of National Night Out. The event will kick off at 6 p.m. and go to 8 p.m.

Members of law enforcement and other community partners are anticipated to attend and provide a fun night for the community. “National Night Out against crime has been an annual event for the Town of Newburgh for several years. It is an excellent opportunity for residents to meet our Police Officers and first responders. Overall, it is an excellent evening for all that attend, with food and many exhibitors. Please try to attend,” said Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio.

The City of Newburgh
The National Night Out in the city will begin at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1. The event will be held starting from the Johnston Street intersection, down the Broadway corridor and go to the Liberty Street intersection. “We will once again join cities and municipalities around the country August 1 on Broadway for National Night out! This annual celebration was created to strengthen the police and community relationships and to promote safety in our streets! We are very proud to participate in this annual event. I will be there, along with our city council members and local organizations and families,” said Mayor Torrance Harvey. “Our Police Department has participated in our Summer Film or Movie Nights and other events similar to National Night out! So we are so excited. August 1 is around the corner! Our DPW and Water Department partners with this event as well.”
