The City of Newburgh’s City Event Sponsorship Policy will go for a vote of amendment on Monday, November 27. Though the policy was adopted on February 13, 2023 by city council, if the amendment is adopted, it would go into effect on January 1, 2024.

The resolution amendment before city council on Monday, November 20 would see the Newburgh Enlarged City School District sponsored Back to School event stricken from the Recurring Public Special Events list while adding the 9/11-Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony.

Current events sponsored by the city include the Memorial Day Parade, the 4th of July, Black History Parade/Juneteenth, National Night Out, the International Festival, Halloween, the Christmas Tree Lighting, the Annual Community Clean Up and the Newburgh Illuminated Festival.
