Vaccinations are finally taking place, the snow is disappearing, and it looks like finally, after a year, we will be able to go places and see people again!

The news that, thanks to Mr. Kaplan’s offer, Mrs. Alice Desmond’s legacy is going to continue to be honored by the Town of Newburgh kept people sane through this long and lonely period.

Former students of the adult enrichment program are ecstatic and although it’s realized it may be awhile till classes can be at full capacity at least there’s something to look forward to!

Part of the agreement with the town was for $100,000 a year for 3 years for “reviving the diverse classes” and maintenance of the building.  There are lots of people willing to work voluntarily to get this going as well as teachers looking forward to teaching there again.  We look forward to hearing about the plans to begin this process.

What a unique and outstanding gift the Town of Newburgh will have to offer the community by offering classes of such educational value as Mrs. Desmond wished.
