Ending the filibuster

Posted

Since 1806 the filibuster has been an integral part of the Senate. Last year when Democrats were in the minority the filibuster was used 327 times. Now that the Vice-President holds the 51st vote making the Democrats the majority party there is a movement to eliminate this procedure calling it racist. In 2017 more than half of current Democrats and current Vice-President Harris signed a letter supporting the filibuster.  I guess it wasn’t racist then? Last year Senator Tim Scott attempted to advance his police reform legislation during the time riots and unrest were taking place in American cities after the George Floyd incident. Despicably his legislation was a fatality of the filibuster by Democrats.

The Senate is supposed to be a more deliberative body than the House. The hypocrisy currently being advanced is clear to all Americans. Stop this blatant power grab attempt!
Thank you.
