Here she stands for all to see. Church of The Assumption, Maybrook, NY. After 112 years of not only administering the Holy Sacraments to generations of Roman Catholic families, from both near and far, but a source of pride, succor and security to all. Padlocked, presumably from Almighty God and His Creatures, she has been relegated “profane”; no longer God’s House by His closest Allies, and presumed friends. Yet, proudly and almost defiantly, without sinking one inch; she stands alone; rotting and weeping; like Mary at the foot of the Cross. Her Divine Son; crucified and removed from her very midst, only by motor vehicles these days. Her once beautiful holy grounds, ripped up by huge vehicles, and used daily by animals, as a bathroom, to relieve themselves.

Shamefully, thirty pieces of silver is all that remains. Occasionally, dumbfounded passersby stop in disbelief; perhaps blessing themselves, but in anger asking what kind of apostle would do such a thing? And in her extreme pain, disgrace, agony and despair, she cries out in her sorrows, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do!!” Or do they?
