The Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra (GNSO) will conclude a successful season on Saturday, July 22 at 4 p.m. at Aquinas Hall on the Mount Saint Mary College campus in Newburgh. For Maestro Russell Ger, “At The Movies!” is literally a dream come true.

“In my late teens, I used to spend hours in our living room standing in front of our sound system while conducting, with a chop stick, the movie soundtracks I had on CD,” Ger recalls. “The music – with all its intensity, its drama, its emotion – had me completely hooked. It is part of why I wanted to become a conductor. So, I have been dreaming about doing a concert like this for around 25 years!”

“We are performing some of my all-time favorites, like the incredible uplift of E. T. to the rollicking adventure of Indiana Jones to the epic grandeur of Jurassic Park to the poignancy of the Godfather, and then on to a bunch of really fun themes like Mission Impossible and Ghostbusters,” Mr. Ger continued. “It is going to be a blast!”
