Hold parents responsible

Posted

On Wednesday April 26, 2023 the Pine Bush High School had to suffer a hoax that sent many parents crying in fear for their children’s lives. This 14 year-old individual that thought up this hoax should be given the maximum suspension possible and his parents should be held accountable for his actions and the expense incurred by this vicious act that was perpetrated on our school.

There were an army of police and State Police from all over the county that had to come in and shut down the school and try to save the children from harm because a 14 year old individual from Wallkill called in a false gun threat. Even the EMS and Fire Department responded to this emergency.

This incident caused a great expense to our community and tax payers. The stupidity of this student that manufactured this hoax just cost the tax payers well over $100,000.00. I truly think as a tax payer for many years in this community that the parents of this child that created this hoax should be held accountable for the entire expense that this student incurred. The tax payers should not be held responsible for the cost of this hoax.

I hope the District Attorney that is handling this case brings down a heavy punishment to this student and his parents should be made to pay the full restitution for the cost incurred in order to show others that this type of stupidity will not be tolerated and that parents should teach their children properly right from wrong.
