Free food, free entertainment and free resources and information for the families of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and the community!

The Newburgh Free Library, Newburgh Enlarged City School District, City of Newburgh Recreation Department and We Are Newburgh are collaborating to bring a fun-filled day of music, dance and back-to-school activities on Saturday, August 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Board of Education/Newburgh Free Library located at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh.

Performers at the event will include Kofi Donkor & the Sankofa Ensemble, African Dancing & Drumming and the Armory Dance Group.

Community-based organizations will be on hand to provide families with information about healthcare, programming and services for all ages, housing, and offer free giveaways. Arts and crafts, games, and a giant chessboard will give families and the community the opportunity to play and enjoy the last days of summer.

Free backpacks will be provided to Newburgh Enlarged City School District families while supplies last; and thanks to the NECSD Transportation Department the George M. Carroll Bus Company students going to school for the first time will have the opportunity to tour a school bus and learn about bus safety.

Friends of the Newburgh Free Library will be selling books at the Backdoor Bookstore located in the rear of the library on Montgomery Street. The Backdoor Bookstore has something for everyone offering a variety of titles for children, youth, and adults.

Families and friends can take selfies at the colorful Back-To-School display wall, create personalized bookmarks, and apply for library cards to give them access to resources that will support them in their hobbies, curiosities, and career.
