Reverend Jessica and Cindy Bartley Horn, SPRC Chairperson wants everyone to know of some exciting changes happening at Gardnertown United Methodist Church (UMC).

As of July 1, 2019, Bishop Bickerton intends to appoint Rev. Jessica both to Gardnertown UMC and Trinity United Methodist Parish in Newburgh. Rev. Jessica will be splitting her time by serving Gardnertown UMC two-thirds of the week and one-third of the week at Trinity. Both congregations will be receiving financial support for equitable compensation from the New York Annual Conference. Please keep the people of Cold Spring/South Highland in your prayers as Rev. Jessica’s last Sunday with them will be June 30. Linda Smith will preach and lead worship at Gardnertown that day, so that Rev. Jessica can say farewell.

She will begin serving Trinity United Methodist Parish on July 1 and will continue her ministry with us. Reverend Jessica and Cindy, ask that you please also keep our congregation and the people of Trinity UMP in prayer in this time of transition. We look forward to the future with hope!

Flag Day is June 14th. President Woodrow Wilson, in 1916 made a proclamation that the Stars and Stripes would be the flag of United States of America.

Flag Day is not a national holiday, but individual states have the rights to proclaim Flag Day a state holiday. Pennsylvania does celebrate June 14th, Flag Day as a state holiday.

Father’s Day is June 16th. The questions of all questions, what do you get Dad? Just like Moms, Dads would like to have some free time but still have things get done around the house. So, mowing the lawn, weed wacking, pool skimmed, bushes trimmed (if old enough).

For the young ones, letting dad read the newspaper, watch a show, coupons that allows him to have drinks and snacks brought to him, clean up the toys. Remember the best gifts are always from the heart and are free.
