Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus declared a state of emergency in all areas of the county on Sunday evening, in the wake of heavy rains and flooding.
The declaration cited the real and continued danger of "flooding, downed trees, unsafe roadways and their concomitant perilous effect on the lives and safety of the inhabitants throughout the County and which requires immediate measures to protect the lives, health, and safety of the people in the County..."
As part of the state of emergency, Neuhas has ordered roads closed to non emergency vehicles in the Town of Highlands, including Highland Falls and Fiort Montgomery, which experiences extensive flooding Sunday.
