Hello New Windsor. My nine-year-old son Mattingly has been back to school in person two days a week for the last four weeks and he is so happy the days he is in person to school rather than doing it online. Talking to other parents they are all saying the same thing. Their children are so happy to be back in school as well. Just seeing Mattingly’s face light up on the days he gets to go to school in person makes me really hope and pray that things will get better and the kids will be able to get back to school five days a week. They need it, the parents need it, everyone needs it.

The Town of New Windsor PBA has placed a donation drop-box in the NWPD lobby. Please consider donating your lightly used coats/jackets/parkas/fleeces to local families in need.
Donations can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by dropping your items in the designated box.
Special Thanks to U-Haul Moving and Storage in New Windsor for donating the drop-box.

The Town of New Windsor Town Clerk Kelly Allegra along with Animal Control Officer Stacy Conley were very pleased with the amazing turnout for the free drive-thru rabies clinic, sponsored by Orange County Department of Health that took place on Saturday October 17 at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park.
More than 100 animals were vaccinated with the rabies vaccination by a vet from Flannery Animal Hospital. Participants entered “one-way” and remained in their vehicle while a vet gave the shot to the animals who never got out of the car.  Once the shot was administered the proper tag and documentation paperwork was returned to the participants.  The event was made into a drive thru event this year due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, but it went so well that the Orange County Health Department is considering making all the future rabies clinic events drive thru events even post pandemic. Town of New Windsor Recreation Department staff helped with set-up, traffic control, and clean-up after the event.

The Town Clerk’s Office is excited to announce that existing dog licenses can now be renewed online! To take advantage of this new service, visit the town’s website, newwindsor-ny.gov, and under the ‘Quick Links’ section you will now see a link for Dog Licensing. You may renew and pay for your dog license(s) online by using your MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express Credit Cards.
The service fee for one transaction is $1.75. Please keep in mind this is a renewal system, so a license can only be renewed if a valid rabies certificate is on file in the Town Clerk’s Office. A first-time dog license cannot be obtained online.

Join the Town of New Windsor Recreation Department on Wednesday December 2 from 6 - 9 p.m. in the Community Center and learn how to make your own beautiful holiday wreath. Keep it for yourself or give it away as a gift, you will go home feeling good about what you created. Why buy a wreath when you can have fun making your own? Bring your own pruner’s, and gloves if you have them. Social distancing will be in place for this class so space is extremely limited so sign up today! Price of class is $30 which is more affordable than buying a wreath from the store, and it will be a lot nicer.

Birthday shout outs this week go to Sean Cummings and Luke Duddy whose birthdays are on October 28, to John Babcock III whose birthday is on November 1st, to Jordan Esposito whose birthday is on November 3, and to anyone else out there celebrating birthdays this week. Happy birthday! Happy wedding anniversary to Dick and Pat Hovey who are celebrating on October 31.
If anyone has a birthday or other special event you want mentioned in my column, or have anything going on in New Windsor that you want the world to know about you can reach me at mveronesi@optimum.net or by calling 845-629-1260. Have a great week.
