Newburgh relay team wins championship

The Newburgh Free Academy boys’ 1,600-meter relay team won the championship on Saturday at the New York State Federation indoor track and field championships at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility in Staten Island.

The team of David Pinnock, Anthony Burnett, Anthony Barrett and Brady Danyluk won the championship with a time of 3:19.48. Kendy Georges ran as part of the relay in the semifinals, as the Goldbacks qualified with a time of 3:23.06.

The boys’ 400-meter relay team of DeJuan McKenzie, Jerod Underwood, Jun Rivas and Nakei Johnson finished sixth with a time of 1:31.67. The Goldbacks were fifth in the preliminaries with a time of 1:31.55.

Devin Batelic finished seventh in the boys’ 1,600-meter run with a season-best time of 4:17.37 and Danyluk was 14th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:26.59.

Alexandra Swink was 31st in the girls’ 600-meter run in 1:45.00.
