Richard M. Meddaugh Sr. of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Newburgh, NY. He was 73.

The son of Maurice Meddaugh and Louise Voss Meddaugh, he was born October 23, 1948 in Monticello, NY.

Richard was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was an avid reader and enjoyed historical research and lived life as only he could. He proudly served in the United State Army reaching the rank of Sergeant and while in-service received commendations for service and duty.

He was the widower of Maryellen Meddaugh who he loved dearly. In their next chapter, we are positive Maryellen is taking him to antique events and showing him the ropes, and more importantly, reminding him to behave. They are now together continuing the fun.

Survivors include his son Richard M. Meddaugh Jr. of Delmar, NY and his daughter Elizabeth Meddaugh-Godinez of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his sister Gloria Myers of Richmond, VA. He was the proud grandfather (Opa) to John “JR” Meddaugh, Aubrey Meddaugh, Lola Meddaugh-Godinez and Fiona Meddaugh-Godinez. He also counts several nieces and nephews to his “crew” and countless friends that he considered family and were selected to be in his “circle of trust”.

He will be deeply missed and these brief words cannot do justice to what he meant to our family.
A private memorial has been held in his honor. Unfortunately, we could not accommodate his request “legally” for a traditional Viking funeral. Memorial contributions/donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
