Greetings from River City. Learn to Fly! Applications are now open for Ritz Kidz Circus, a FREE, two-week summer program for ages 12 – 16, from August 5-16 at Safe Harbors. Work with a team of experienced, professional circus coaches to learn amazing new skills in acrobatics, tumbling, juggling, comedy, music, dance, and flying through the air on the flying trapeze!

The program will culminate in a spectacular circus performance for family, friends and the community on Aug. at 6 p.m. at Safe Harbors Green. 2024 Application forms available! Please return completed applications to Safe Harbors at 111 Broadway either via US Mail, drop off at 24/7 security desk or email to kmartinez@safe-harbors.org.

Stop & Shop supermarkets has selected Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh as a Community Bag Program Nonprofit Partner.

For the month of March, Stop & Shop will donate $1 to Meals on Wheels from the sale of each $2.50 reusable Community Bag.

Since 1972, the nonprofit has delivered hot, nutritious, noontime meals to residents of Newburgh and New Windsor who are confined to their homes and unable to adequately provide their own meals due to age, illness, injury or disability.

Mount Saint Mary College’s CMA Gallery will host an opening reception for its newest mixed media gallery, “Mandorla in Pieces” by Joan Ffolliott and Charles Purvis, on Saturday, Mar. 2, from 5 - 7 p.m.

The reception and gallery are free and open to the public. The gallery is located on the first floor of Aquinas Hall on campus, 330 Powell Ave.

For the month of Lent, on March 12, there will be showing La Pasion de Cristo (The Passion of the Christ) with Jim Caviezel portraying Jesus, directed by Mel Gibson and spoken in 4 languages (Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin and French) with English subtitles. It is the story of the Crucifixion. St. Francis of Assisi Church, 130 Benkard Avenue.

This movie is not for the faint of heart and attempts to show t the true pain and agony that Jesus went through for us. As always, the doors of O’Connor Hall (Church basemen) will open at 5:30 p.m., the movie will start at 6 p.m. Bring a friend enjoy some pizza and snacks, and experience what Lent is all about.

40 Days for Life - from February 14 - March 24 you’re invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life – 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion. You’re also invited to stand and peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood, 136 Lake St. from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily. Msgr. Henry O’Carroll Council 444 Knights of Columbus invites you to Mass and Communion Breakfast/Brunch on Sunday, March 17. Mass is at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church followed by breakfast/brunch at approximately 11 a.m. at Temple Hill Tavern & Catering in New Windsor. Guest speaker is Seminarian Kevin Noyola from St. Joseph’s Seminary.

Blood Plasma was developed by Dr. Charles Richard Drew, an African-American surgeon and medical researcher. He was born on June 3, 1904; he died on April 1, 1950. Dr. Drew was 45 years old.
