St. Thomas to host Christmas bazaar

Posted

Hello New Windsor. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving last week. My brother and his family were in NY for Thanksgiving and they brought my niece Emma’s boyfriend with them for the trip.
Both Emma and her boyfriend Thai are 16 years old. I had briefly met Thai in June when we were in Florida on vacation but didn’t get the chance to give him the over protective uncle talk. But he was going to be in NY for over a week this time so I was going to make sure it was going to be very clear that he better always treat Emma with respect and kindness. My brother and his family and Thai would stay at my parents’ house.
My mom and dad were trying to decide where Thai would sleep and I said I could set up a cot for him in the shed. My mom decided he could have one of the guest rooms. I think Thai enjoyed his trip to NY even though I gave him the crazy uncle talk and he had a chance to visit New York City where he saw how wonderful of a city it was and how bad it could be all in the same trip.
More about that trip to the city to come in a future column.

On Saturday, December 21, the Vails Gate Fire Department will once again be escorting Santa Claus on his annual tour of our district and handing out candy canes to children.
We will also be collecting canned and non-perishable food items to benefit the Town of New Windsor Food Pantry. The food pantry is in desperate need of assistance, as many local families are in need of help. Last year the food pantry was able to assist numerous local families. Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
Santa will be starting out around 10 am and will appear at various locations in the district throughout the day. The Vails Gate Fire District protects the following areas: Along Route 94 from Erie Ave. up to ½ mile past Mt. Airy Rd., along Route 32 from Union Ave. to Orrs Mills Rd. in Cornwall, along Union Ave. from Rt. 32 to the Town of Newburgh line, and all along Route 207 out to Hampton Court.

If you unsure if you live in the Vails Gate Fire District, please contact the firehouse at 561-9729.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we may not be able to go down every street, but if you hear us come through your neighborhood, please escort your children down to the corner to see Santa. Dead end and narrow streets are particularly difficult for us to navigate safely. We will make every effort to cover as much ground as possible. In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule for Sunday, December 22. Thank you for your continued support!
