New Windsor staple restaurant Steak & Stein has officially been torn down. The demolition of this building makes way for the development of the site for a brand new hotel.

The previously approved project is a four story guest hotel with 93 rooms with additional parking lots on the former restaurant site on Union Avenue. Adjacent to the existing parcel is the Red Roof Inn and Suites Newburgh and the Ikaros Diner. The project also sits adjacent to Route 300, a heavily traveled road in the Town of Newburgh and New Windsor area.

In November 2022, the New Windsor Planning Board issued final approval for the“Banta Hospitality’’ project. “Banta Hospitality” was represented by M.A. Day Engineering and had not seen any movement for some time due to a construction moratorium years back in the town.
