Sunshine Ford seeks EV charging stations

Sunshine Ford, located at 40 Route 17K in the Town of Newburgh, has proposed to the Town of Newburgh Planning Board a plan to install new electric vehicle charging stations at their dealership. The charging stations would be available to use to the public.

According to the project’s representative, Ford, like other car manufacturers, has mandated electric vehicle charging stations to be installed at their specific locations. Two types of chargers, a Level 2 charger and DC Fast charger, were proposed for the site. Level 2 chargers charge electrical vehicles within several hours while the DC Fast charge can charge a vehicle from a half hour to 45 minutes.

MHE Engineering requested from the applicant’s representative that a formal site plan be submitted to the town for their review and will need an Orange County Planning referral in the process. The reason for the county’s involvement is due to the dealership being on a county road.
