Newburgh Free Academy softball coaches teamed with the Town of Newburgh Little League this summer to hold a series of softball camps on Wednesday nights at the Town of Newburgh Little League complex on Lakeside Road.

The final session was last Wednesday, where the players started the evening with fielding drills and finished the night with a half-hour t-ball scrimmage on two of the fields.

The camps were for players ages 8-15 years old and was hosted by Newburgh softball coaches: varsity coach Chris Leggett, varsity assistant coach Katie Mineo, JV coach Rachel Gamma, modified coaches Stephanie Spellman and Edwin Quezada and Little League coach Neil Clarino.
Kristen Rummel served as the Little League coordinator for the camps.

Town of Newburgh Little League President Peter Merli said about 30-40 softball players showed up to each of the five camp nights, the first of which was on July 13 taking place weekly until Aug. 10.
