Walden treasurer season three, NOT Ahsoka season two

We still don’t know if there will be a second season of “Ahsoka”, but that’s been offset by an unexpected bonus: a third season of The Walden Village Treasurer!

Who knew this premise had so much potential for long-term storytelling? After a first season where newcomer Elizabeth Skinner stepped in under odd circumstances despite taking a pay cut, only to leave after eight months in a plot twist that still has online fans debating whether she was incompetent or set up to fail for some nefarious unexplained reason, the producers brought back her predecessor, Kelly A. Kelly, for season 2, who restores the office to its former glory. But viewers were still left wondering at season’s end why she got a huge pay bump in the process, to more than three times the median income for a woman in Walden.

We assumed that there wouldn’t be a third season. But, again, showrunner John Revella and the writers’ room know how to give us what we didn’t realize we wanted. Apparently the treasurer’s role is to be recast again. The new season starts with the mystery of why Kelly is leaving. Did she want even more money? Is she “leaving her post to devote more time to her family”, as the euphemistic phrase so often has it? Does she know something inconvenient? Is this setting us up for a surprise end-of-season reveal of something we never guessed but would seem blindingly obvious in retrospect?

And, of course, who will the new treasurer be? This promises to fill the hole that Succession left.

I can’t wait for the first episode to drop! And the best part is it’s free to watch!
