The reception for the 2019 North East Watercolor Society’s Members’ Show [NEWS] at which ten awards will be presented, is slated for Sunday, March 3 from 1 to 4:15 p.m.

The NEWS reception has a celebratory tone about it. Pianist Geoff Hamburg will start off the afternoon event at 1 p.m. by playing classical and jazz standards. Then at 2:30 p.m., the show judge, Lynn D. Pratt, will begin her hour and a quarter -long demonstration of her photo realistic technique entitled Bringing the Third Dimension to Life. Following the demo, awards will offer recognition to the winners. In addition, the art society celebrates its 43rd year of the Members’ Show.

This year’s exhibit is comprised of 118 works by 65 artists. In addition, Pratt’s 16-piece solo show on the Fringe wall, It’s All in the Details: Dynamic Watercolor, brings the total number to 134.

Originally, the Orange County Watercolor Society, the group grew rapidly in size and scope and changed to the North East Watercolor Society. Now, members come from all over the United States with a few from Canada and one from France.

The reception and demonstration and exhibits are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to Orange Hall which is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange.
